Care Bear Party!!!

We celebrated Anaiya's 1st birthday over the weekend. Thank you to all of our friends and family that could make it out to celebrate with us!

I decided to do a Care Bears themed party, but based on the version of the Care Bears that I grew up with. All the hard work in planning the party was absolutely worth it.  Although the one thing I didn't plan on was the 93 degree weather at the 3pm when the party started!  Amit had to set up a couple of tents in the backyard so the kids could play in the shade.

The party was an absolute blast.  Anaiya was a little overwhelmed by the number of people (we had about 50 people including 16 kids) at the house so she stayed attached to myself or Amit most of the time.  But once we got her around just a few people and she was able to move around playing with her toys, she was good to go.

Now in part of the planning process, there some things that I did that I thought I would never do.  One of them was making Anaiya's baby cake myself.  Somehow I got the crazy idea of making a Care Bear cake myself even though I never had done anything like this before.  But I found a Care Bear cake pan online, learned how to make my own frosting and make the right shades of each color for the all frosting, and learned how to decorate a cake.
If a Care Bear cake wasn't enough, I came across a 3 tier mini cake pan...so another crazy idea popped into my head!  I decided to make a few of them as rainbow themed mini cakes for the kids at the party.

Now I bet if Anaiya could to talk using adult words, I'm sure she would say her favorite part of the party was digging into her cake.
She did take a few bites of it before she slowly started grabbing small chunks and throwing it on the floor.  Good to know that the cake didn't just sit there!

Here are some other pictures from the party:
